Crochet Moss Stitch Bookmark – Crochet for Beginners

I hear a lot that people are looking for quick, easy projects to teach young people how to crochet. Obviously when you’re first starting out, blankets and wearables are intimidating, and you’re usually not ready for those right off the bat. One of the easiest projects for a beginner is a bookmark. This Crochet Moss Stitch Bookmark is easy enough for the beginner, and quick enough that you’ll be able to have a tangible project completed in a fairly short time. Plus, a bookmark is pretty darn useful!

Tassel

Wrap yarn around your hand, as shown in picture. You can wrap as many times as you want, the more you wrap, the more full your tassel will be.

Cut the bottom of all loops and lay flat

Using a long piece of yarn, tie into a circle with a double knot. This will be the piece that holds the tassel to the bookmark. Place the knot on top of the shorter pieces, in the center, and fold them over the knot.

With another long piece of yarn, wrap around the tassels as many, or as few, times as desired. Tie a double not, and pull the ends down into the tassel.

Trim and attach to the bookmark as shown.
