Crochet Cauldron Pattern

Make this cute Crochet Cauldron as a stand alone decoration, or to add to any of your amigurumi projects to create a festive Halloween look! This cauldron pairs nicely with the Crochet Candy Corn Witch pattern! Don’t forget your Amigurumi Witch Hat, too!

Materials Needed 

  • Worsted Weight yarn in Black
  • Polyfil
  • Size G/4mm crochet hook 
  • Yarn Needle for sewing
  • Scissors

Stitches and Abbreviations 

  • Ch – Chain
  • SC – Single Crochet
  • MC – Magic Circle (Ch 2 can be used if you prefer)
  • Sl St – Slip Stitch
  • Inc – Increase – work 2 SC into one stitch
  • Dec – Single Crochet 2 stitches together
  • SC BLO – Single Crochet in Back Loop Only

Crochet Cauldron Pattern Written Instructions

In Black:

Begin with a MC

Round 1: SC 6 into MC. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (6)

Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (12)

Round 3: *SC, Inc*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (18)

Round 4: *2 SC, Inc*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (24)

Round 5: *3 SC, Inc*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (30)

Round 6: SC BLO into each stitch around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (30)

Round 7: *4 SC, Inc*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (36)

Round 8: *5 SC,Inc*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (42)

Round 9: *6 SC, Inc*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (48)

Round 10-17: SC in each stitch around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (48)

Round 18: *6 SC, Dec*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (42)

Round 19: *5 SC, Dec*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (36)

Round 20: *4 SC, Dec*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (30)

Round 21-23: SC in each stitch around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (30)

Round 24: *5 SC, Inc*. Repeat between * * around. Sl St to first stitch to close round.  Ch 1 (36)

Fasten Off, and weave in ends.

Fold top over and stuff with polyfil.  

To create colored potion for your crochet cauldron, use watercolor paints to color polyfil and let dry.  I used a napkin, not a paint brush, to help get the right coverage.  Only a small portion (whatever amount will be visible from the opening) needs to be colored/dyed.  

Note: This pattern is written by closing each round with a Sl St, rather than working continuously.  Working continuously *shouldn’t* affect the overall shape, but I have not worked the pattern in that fashion to guarantee that to be the case.
